Once again, Goku being Goku, he jumps at the opportunity to challenge Beerus to a fight. King Kai's fears become realized when the god of destruction appears before them. Goku, through King Kai's telepathy, finds out about Beerus being awoken and in typical Goku fashion, is overjoyed at the prospect of finding a new challenge, despite King Kai's warnings against doing so. Along with Whis, Beerus decides to track down the saiyan whom defeated Frieza: Goku.

Beerus concludes that the one whom defeated Frieza must be the super saiyan god.

The only absence, of course, is Goku (voiced by Sean Schemmel), who's busy training his life away on King Kai's (also voiced by Sean Schemmel) planet.Įlsewhere, a god with the likenesses of a cat, Beerus (voiced by Jason Douglas), dubbed the God of destruction, is awoken from a several decade long slumber by his assistant, Whis (voiced by Ian Sinclair), due to the premonition of a mythological figure called the "Super Saiyan God." Upon being awoken, Beerus discovers that Frieza, one of the most ruthless villains in the galaxy, has been defeated, by a saiyan no less. Sometime between the ten year gap between the end of the Buu saga and the world martial arts tournament that capped the Z series, our heroes are enjoying peaceful times by enjoying a day at Capsule Corp, celebrating Bulma's (voiced by Monica Rial) birthday. Nearly two years ago, Akira Toriyama decided to make the first Dragon Ball related animation in 18 years, after an insanity of fan demand, FUNimation has finally licensed both versions of the film for North American audiences. The popularity was so high in fact, that most credit the Dragon Ball franchise as the main reason for the popularity of anime as a whole. Fifteen years ago, DBZ was the juggernaut of anime. But it all rests on whether FUNimation wants my money or not.Dragon Ball Z is a phenomenon. So all in all, I'm still planning on getting more Dragon Ball-related releases.

I also plan on getting Battle of Gods on BD whenever that comes out, and the inevitable release of the new movie coming out next year, but I'm sure we won't get any kind of release in the US until at least 2016 for the newest movie coming out. So FUNimation, if you want any more of my money, get the damn Dragonboxes for DB, GT and the movies already. I'm still hoping to one day get a US release of the Dragonboxes for these two series. Odds are against this ever happening, but I'm still hoping. But I haven't gotten the rest because I'm still holding to a sliver of hope that the Dragonbox Movies will come out sooner or later.

I can always watch the Buu saga with Kikuchi's score with my Dbox DVDs after all.Īside from the TV series, I actually only own a few of the movies. It'll probably get these sets whenever they all come out and probably when it's some kind of deal. Suddenly changing from Kikuchi to Sumitomo would be jarring, especially since I think Kikuchi's best stuff was during the Majin Buu saga. Since I own Kai on season sets, that means I have the all the episodes with the Kikuchi score.

I wish they would've just kept the old Kikuchi score instead. I'm planning on getting Buu Kai whenever FUNimation releases it in season sets, although it would be more for completion's sake than anything, since I'm not really enjoying Sumitomo's music so far. So I'm set for DBZ already minus for Buu Kai.
